Job Description 

The Building Materials Sales organization is seeking an Area Sales Manager (Area Sales Manager) for The Great Lakes Region. The position will be located in upper Michigan (north of Lansing, exact location will be determined soon.) This position will be responsible for all aspects of sales and service to a mixture of 1-step, 2 Step Distributors, Contractors, and Dealers. The Area Sales Manager is accountable to achieve mutual growth and profitability objectives for our customers and Owens Corning. The person selected must establish and maintain existing relationships with one step/two step distribution, contractors and dealers, to include all stakeholders in the territory. New account development in both channels is critical to meet our growth objectives. Product knowledge including technical and application are critical to help our customers be successful. The Area Sales Manager will be expected to take leadership roles as opportunities become available including active participation on the One Company Team. Passion, sales ability, negotiation skills, sense of urgency and relationship building are fundamental skill sets required for this job. Key Accountabilities Include:?Delivers on the plans for all segments; optimizes for Owens Corning and the customer ?Identifies and delivers differential value for Owens Corning and our customers?Has a clear view of the industry, Owens Corning and specific business unit strategies, and focuses the day to day priorities, based on this vision?Develops and implements customer operating plans with a 3 year vision, as well as annual plans ?Continually seeks knowledge of the competition and ensures the information is fed back into the organization in a way that can shape action.?Through partnership, ensures the customer meets their financial goals?Manages margin through strategic price, actionable cost management, and effective negotiation using accurate and reliable reporting tools ?Through communication and behavior, advances our desired market role and positioning?Recommends resource and funding decisions that maximize value for Owens Corning overall?Identifies and develops process changes to eliminate waste/increase profitability for Owens Corning and our customers?Makes the customer’s strategies known and relevant outside of sales; gets others in the game with them?Establishes strong and productive high, wide and deep customer relationships?Communicates the full value that can be derived from each of our products, services, systems and solutions; individually and collectively ?Ensures a safe, clean and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is a first priority.Relevant Experience Desired:Critical areas that the incumbent must provide real life examples are:
  • Account Planning and Management (1st buyer and pull work, Est. and leads account reviews, etc.)
  • Situational Sales with Negotiation Skills (Consistently and Actively engages the broader organization in the Sales Call planning process, Is a champion and mentor of SSN Planning)
  • Product and Services Knowledge (Knows how to sell against the competition’s products and services, Routinely knows products and services from memory and are an information source for others, etc.)
  • Market Complexity (Experience with multiple locations located in various markets in various states, Act upon and understand how the customers define success and how to leverage the 2 organizations for mutual success, etc.)
  • Independence (Strategic, introduce creative ideas/discuss ideas at the table with leader, etc)Bachelor’s degree and at least 7-10 years of experience in related construction fields are desired.Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis.
