Description /

Responsible for recording and analyzing transactions for financial reporting purposes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • Fluent understanding of PeopleSoft Financial Management process throughout lifecycle, including design, configuration, development, integration, testing, and deployment.
  • Project management experience working with clients, business partners, end users coupled with change management experience.
  • Responsible for performing monthly closing activities within the PeopleSoft Modules.
  • Performs a variety of specialized PeopleSoft functions related to transaction processing, troubleshooting, and executing PeopleSoft processes, including allocations.
  • Review journal entries prepared by the unit for accuracy, completeness, and validity in accordance with section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX).
  • Ensures compliance with other established SOX controls.
  • Performs and reviews required balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the unit
  • Conducts financial statement analysis of accounting transactions and balances and explains historical trends.
  • Assists with the preparation and detail review of both external and internal reports of monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Provides financial responses to inquiries by senior management, other business units, and internal and external auditors.
  • Assists on special projects.
  • Conducts analysis and implements the changes needed for new accounting pronouncements and/or regulatory orders.
  • Participates in the formulation, determination and execution of management policies for the unit, including Finance and Accounting policy.
  • Recommends and documents policies and procedures.
  • Recommends and implements changes to improve work guidelines, systems and processes.
  • Recognizes opportunities for training and assumes responsibility for coaching others.
  • Develop and maintain allocation methodologies with respect to charges to subsidiaries and non-utility activities.
  • Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, plus 5+ years relevant business experience required. CPA required. Audit and/or Financial Reporting experience required. Project Management / Change Management experience preferred. Comprehensive working knowledge of GAAP, SEC, and FERC Regulations. Working knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger Financial module (or other large scale application) including nVision and Query reporting tools. Ability to logically analyze and interpret data and to identify relevant issues in solving broadly defined business problems. Ability to meet numerous internal and external deadlines often under tight time constraints. Ability to write and present complex messages to diverse audiences at all levels of the organization, in a logical and concise manner. Ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors, underlings, and peers.
