Tyco Electrical & Metal Products (TEMP) is an industry leader in the manufacture of galvanized steel tubes and pipes, electrical conduit, armored wire and cable, metal framing systems and building components; serving a wide range of construction, electrical, fire and security, mechanical and automotive applications.

TEMP is currently seeking for a Plant Engineer for our New Bedford, MA location.

SUMMARY:
The Plant Engineer will manage and lead the Maintenance Department to ensure equipment is maintained and running efficiently in order to reduce cost and unscheduled downtime. The incumbent will also direct the TPM program for facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the Maintenance Department (this includes supervision of staff, scheduling of work, inspection of competed work and budgeting).

Ensure machinery and equipment are maintained and repaired in a timely and efficient manner.

Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical failures

Direct the facility's Preventative Maintenance Programs.




Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required; MBA degree is highly desired.


Minimum of 10 years of maintenance-related work experience is required; at least 5 years experience in the management of work teams is necessary.


Strong communications and team-building skills are required.


Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and heavy machinery experience are required.


In depth knowledge of PLCs is needed.


Copper drawing and extrusion experience a plus.


Working knowledge of TPM is required.


Prior work experience in a union environment is desired.


Bilingual ability (English and Spanish or Portuguese) is highly desired.


Facilities management and project management skills are critical.


Training or formal certification (Green or Black Belt) in Six Sigma is preferred.


This position will work on 1st shift (7:00AM - 5:00PM) but will be required to be on call for critical work situations, as required.
