Kaplan Higher Education (KHE) is looking for individuals who are interested in using both past managerial experience and the passion to serve others in an educational setting and to begin a career in the higher education industry.
The Director of Education Development Program is a 12-week emersion and training program to develop future academic leaders for our accredited career education schools across the U.S. During the 12-week program, participants will spend time in various campuses and at Home Office to understand the functions of a career education campus and the science of adult education.
The Program is set up with alternating classroom and on-campus components.
Kick off will be the first two weeks of the program, taking place at our Home Office (Chicago), for classroom training. Training includes New Hire Orientation and Academic Affairs-specific content.
The subsequent two weeks will take place at one of our nationally accredited campuses with interactive learning opportunities.
Remaining Home Office training components will include additional Academic Affairs-specific and technical content.
Other on-campus training components will include shadowing and performing various roles, conducting classroom observations and learning about other campus functions including Admissions, Financial Aid and Business Office. During this time, you will travel to various campuses in two-week blocks.
Upon completion of the program, individuals will be placed in any one of our academic leadership positions and will likely require relocation. Potential roles include: Assistant Director of Education/Director of Education and Director of Student Services.
The Assistant Director and Director of Education positions are campus academic leadership. They manage Program Chairs and Faculty, and are directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the achievement of student outcomes and other campus educational goals. Academic leadership is responsible to:
Develop a solid leadership team of Program Chairs and other Staff to ensure the achievement of student outcomes (retention, completion, graduation, employment), efficient course scheduling, development and assignment of faculty, and resolution of service and administrative issues;
Manage daily academic operations to remain within budgetary constraints and achieve targeted operating metrics;
Lead daily student retention activities that include, but are not limited to: new student orientation, tracking attendance rates and contacting absent students, coordinating student academic advising, and resolving student needs, concerns and behavioral issues; and to
Ensure reporting staff and faculty are trained to achieve compliance with state, local, U.S. Department of Education, national or regional institutional accreditation and Kaplan regulatory policies and procedures.
The Director of Student Services will design, implement, and maintain a written retention plan that meets our benchmarks and goals to achieve monthly attrition and re-entry goals. Student support staff is responsible for:
Assisting students in obtaining information, contact, and resolution in the areas of: childcare, transportation, housing, financial investment, protective and legal aid services, and referral to community agencies;
Meeting with, advising, following-up and documenting students on re-entry criteria, including remediation, attendance, scheduling issues, probation and academic success plans; and
Implementing and coordinating campus student activities.
Individuals will be placed into their post-program position based on geographic interest and need of the business. This program requires relocation upon completion of the 12-weeks. Kaplan Higher Education has 70+ campuses nationwide including PA, MD, OH, IN, AZ, TX, and CA.
There is assistance available for relocation.

Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record. Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, Adult Learning or related preferred
Passion for and experience in education
2+ years of teaching and/or education management
5-8 years work experience in increasingly responsible roles including 2+ years of accountability for results (ex. P&L, Customer Service metrics, Employee Retention, etc.)
2+ years experience in management and supervisory roles
Open to travel 75%+ during the 12-week rotational program
Willingness to relocate
