Position Description:
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and patient services.
Ensures strong customer relations with guests and referring physicians, social workers and nurses while maintaining a positive, supportive and safe environment within the Hope Lodge.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates and implements activities and operations of the Hope Lodge Center in St. Louis.
Organizes and completes paperwork, computer records and procedures for guest reservations, registrations, orientation and check out.
Takes appropriate actions to ensure guests adherence to policies and procedures, including making appropriate referrals for management intervention in problem solving.
Organizes transportation, local information and service improvement activities.
Serves as an advocate of diverse groups and focuses on meeting their underlying needs.
Accurately and effectively represents the Society and its mission. Acts in the best interest of the organization and enhances the image of the American Cancer Society in the public eye.
Proactively and assertively addresses issues as they arise. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as appropriate to the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience in advanced customer service and/or hospitality industry.
At least one year of relevant work experience. Ability to develop a basic awareness of cancer treatments and their side effects and patient/family needs during crises.
Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources and make appropriate decisions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.
Handles self in a professional manner at all times and takes personal responsibility for delivering on personal and organizational commitments.
Solid project management skills and ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities in a focused manner.
This position requires a rotating shift schedule of evening and weekend work. Some shifts cover an entire weekend.
Pay is $9.27 an hour.
