Job Description

BASIC JOB PURPOSE

Under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance position maintains/repairs the Rekers machine and associated equipment to produce quality concrete products from the raw materials stage to yard stage, following established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Must Be Able To:

1.) Performs general maintenance on all plant equipment.

2.) Knowledge of Seimens Controls, Stromag Controls, and Sew Drives.

3.) Ability to read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics.

4.) Assist in setting up and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance Program for the Plant

5.) Work hands on with other employees

6.) Knowledgeable in the basics of hydraulics, electricity and tools required to service the equipment

7.) Exercise high levels of responsibility and task orientation.

8.) Understand and follow directions in English as required by safety and job performance standards.

9.) Understand and consistently follow procedures with little supervision.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must Be Able To:

1.) Lift concrete products, machine parts, and other objects weighing up to 75 pounds each, at heights from floor level to 4 feet high.

2.) Provide assistance to others in moving heavier or bulky objects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OR DUTIES AFTER TRAINING

1.) Monitor the operation of the block machine, batcher, mixer, admix tank, conveyors, loader, unloader, dapalleter, cuber, kilns and other nearby equipment to detect and repair malfunctions.

2.) Fill in to operate block machine and associated equipment efficiently to produce concrete products from raw materials to the Yard stage, according to prescribed quality standards and production schedule.

3.) Maintain, adjust and perform all repairs on the block machine and associated equipment.

4.) Develop new tools and equipment, or processes with direction from supervision.

5.) Maintain work area in orderly and hazard free condition.

6.) Change molds as required with the assistance of Shift Manager or other production personnel.

7.) Perform other functions and duties as required or directed, such as starting up and shutting down the production facility; keeping written records of production and maintenance; relieving other personnel for breaks; responsible for all major equipment maintenance and repairs; assisting the Plant Manager with coordinating all production operations that are tied to the speed and output of the block machine; and assisting with training of employees.

SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES FOR MAINTENANCE MAN

In addition to the following SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES for this position, employee must observe all GENERAL SAFETY RULES that apply to his/her activities.

1.) Carefully follow noise, dust and other environmental safety procedures as required or directed.

2.) Carefully follow lifting and back safety rules while handling concrete products, pallets and machinery.

3.) Use proper safety guidelines for repetitive motion tasks.

4.) Carefully follow lockout/tagout procedures for maintenance and repairs.

5.) Know Hazardous Materials in work area and how to protect against them.

6.) Be alert to the safe working conditions of all nearby machinery and personnel.

Job Requirements

Must be able to work in outdoor environment. Hand, wrist, arm, and finger dexterity to move, handle, position, manipulate, and install. Whole body movements to climb, push, pull, walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, carry objects, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Use of safety/personal protective equipment required; hearing sensitivity; must be able to work long hours/weekends.

High school diploma or equivalent and one to five years of related experience in trades specific to job requirements or equivalent combination of education and training. Training from a vocational or technical school preferred. Knowledge of two or more specific trades such as carpentry, welding, electrical, and mechanical. Ability to read tool and machinery specifications and work-related documents. Ability to write.
