Job Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for you to Manage a team that is responsible for managing our internal software base. In addition, the Manager - Application Development & Management, will manage software upgrades, reduce application downtime, develop processes and procedures for effective software hand offs, define SLAs with key business representatives and ensure application roadmap compliance. The position will work with custom developed applications in Java, C#, VB6 and PERL CGI as well as packaged applications from vendors.
This position will also manage reporting and analysis for the applications provided. This will require management of staff to provide metrics (system, system performance, productivity rates, cost estimate accuracy, technical skill depth, and configuration management) as necessary for effective analysis and management of the applications during development or conversion and after implementation. In addition, this position will make recommendations for process improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise, motivate, coach and develop programming/development staff
Plan, budget and monitor staffing levels working with Project Mangers and Business Process managers to ensure I.S. commitments are met
Manage Service Level Agreements for business unit applications
Act as software tool custodian for an unlimited number of software tools.
Manage application life cycle costs
Manage external vendors and consulting services
Participate in budget process
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Associates degree or higher in information systems technology, computer science or business -OR- 2+ years professional work experience.
5+ years experience in managing software development teams OR technical lead experience.
12+ years experience in business applications and information systems development
5+ years experience in project management,
5+ years experience with appropriate information technologies (OS/390, UNIX, Linux, relational databases, Windows, Windows/NT/XP, Java, C#, VB6)
Other Qualifications:
Telecommunications experience (knowledge of telephony preferred)
Ability to develop and manage project schedules
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with both customers and team members from diverse parts of the organization
Excellent PC skills, including expertise in spreadsheet software, project management software, and other core productivity tools
Expertise in system development methodologies and technologies
Appreciation of the objectives, operations, and culture of local telephone companies and their employees
A proven ability to lead and motivate people as a lead technical analyst or project leader
Experience managing and coordinating cross-functional teams
Experience communicating with a diverse group of stakeholders
Experience in project management and cost management, and familiarity with good cost estimation practices
Experience with SLA definition, implementation and management
