The Design Project Manager will develop and manage client relationships and coordinate activities of the design team to ensure expectations are exceeded and projects are successfully completed on schedule.
Duties include:
* Collaborate with clients at Masco business units to develop project design briefs to communicate strategic business and product development goals to the design team.
* Coordinate with client marketing and engineering teams to collect all relevant project supporting materials such as market research reports and samples, photos, or CAD databases of competitive and existing products.
* Reviews and critique project plans for time frame requirements, deliverables, tracking & forecasting of budgets, staff requirements (internal and external), and specialized resources.
* Develop and maintain Gantt charts to continually track and manage project schedules and design team workload
* Manage client expectations by communicating project status and issues; resolves concerns; analyzes time and cost issues
* Build new business by presenting additional services to current clients; explores opportunities to develop new business between MPD and non-participating business units.
* Continually update job knowledge; participates in educational opportunities; reads professional publications; maintains personal networks; participates in professional organizations.
* Enhance business unit’s and MPD’s reputations by accepting ownership of the accomplishment of new and different initiatives; explores new opportunities to add value to the job and to our organizations.
Skills/Qualifications:
The selected candidate will possess a thorough understanding of product development and design processes, preferably in the consumer durable goods industry. A minimum of eight years project management experience is a must. Expertise obtained in a manufacturing environment is preferred. An undergraduate degree in business, marketing, industrial design or engineering is required and a graduate degree would be considered a plus. Expertise with Microsoft Project software is required.
