SUMMARY




The Director, Market Research is accountable for the overall strategic direction, decision making, and execution of imperatives that drive market research activities at Lundbeck Inc. The Director is responsible for identifying and integrating systems and processes in order to support the launch of products and analyze numerous business development activities that compliment Lundbeck’s portfolio.




ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS




Provide a high level of evidence-based, strategic guidance for marketing, clinical, forecasting, business development and senior management.


Ensure marketing and business decision-making is supported by timely, accurate, cost-effective data and value-added analyses through direction and management of primary and secondary Marketing Research and Business Analytics.


Develop and maintain MR as a Center of Excellence through knowledge, insights, guidance and vigilant watch over the health of the brands and markets. This includes active participation in all key discussions and meetings affecting brand and therapeutic market strategy development.


Lead the development, negotiation, budget management and implementation of annual marketing research plans and budgets for assigned brands.


Partner with other members of the Commercial Analysis and Business Development department (including Business Development, Forecasting, Sales Analytics, CI and other Marketing Research members) on special projects related to specific business issues or cross-product initiatives, providing leadership on these projects as needed.


 


REQUIRED EDUCATION


 


BS or BA


 


REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE


 


10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience


5+ years developing and leading pharmaceutical marketing research programs


5+ years leading Qualitative and Quantitative primary research project design, analysis and management


5+ years using a wide range of pharmaceutical secondary audits, including design, analysis and integration with primary research, sales, marketing, general business and pharmaceutical industry sources of intelligence, and other internal resource data sources


5+ years developing and managing Marketing Research budgets and work plans for specific products and/or therapeutic areas

Possess a thorough understanding of assigned therapeutic areas (medical practice, products, competitors, patients, and market dynamics) as well as a broad understanding of the U.S. healthcare and pharmaceutical industry issues and trends


Demonstrated analytical ability and insight through proven experience developing Analysis Plans for primary research, Forecasts, sales force/operations analyses, and integrated research approaches

Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining strong team/functional relationships

Demonstrated consulting skills and proactivity with internal and external clients

Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and juggle tasks to meet tight and evolving deadlines

Highly developed ability to frame and communicate issues in strategic terms (both written and orally)

Demonstrated skills in creativity/innovation, initiative, flexibility, and learning new markets and techniques

Demonstrated vision and passion for the Marketing Research function

Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Internet Search strategies

Ability to travel 10-20%


PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE




Advanced degree, including MBA, MS or Pharmacy degree

Leadership role/staff management experience

CNS Therapeutic Experience

Experience working with orphan drugs and diseases a plus

Hospital Market experience (both primary and secondary research)
