What Clinical Operations contributes to Cardinal Health

Clinical Operations is responsible for supporting the timely and quality sale, installation and monitoring of Cardinal Health products and services; may also provide product and service education to facilitate technology adoption and workflow change management.


What is expected of you for success in your role
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant clinical operations, products and services
  • Participates in or leads clinical pre-sales support, assessment and evaluation of new products and services
  • Participates in or leads the post-sales assessment, design, implementation and monitoring of new products and services
  • Develops, plans and manages customer training programs
  • Serves as lead consultant and resource to internal and external customers
  • Makes recommendations that will drive customer acceptance and utilization of new products and services
  • Identifies and communicates opportunities for product improvement using direct customer feedback
 


Job Requirements

  • Proactively develops and maintains broad knowledge of the technical disciplines in own functional area(s); applies broad knowledge of trends and best practices in a manner that ensures exceptional performance and results.

  • Uses deep subject matter/functional expertise, influence and process skills to help internal/external customers and stakeholders identify and meet their high priority needs while considering cultural and diversity implications.
  • Diagnoses problems related to daily transactional processes; determines possible resolutions and implements effective solutions in a timely manner.
Accountabilities in this role
  • *  Identifies customer needs and assists in aligning solutions with executive goals, objectives and vision.  May include on-site clinical workflow assessment of current state medication use processes
    *  Recommends automation technology for future state improvement, including financial and operational benchmarks
    *  Provides clinical expertise related to medication management, pharmacy operations barcode readiness, pharmacy order entry, NDC maintenance, and clinical and regulatory issues.
    *  Conducts Pharmacy Operations analysis and presents data to support customer commitment to proposed solutions.
    *  Provides technical and professional expertise in formal presentation and provides software/hardware demonstrations to potential customers with the ability to meet the needs of a given audience including end-users and mid-level management
    *  Develops reference accounts and customers for company sponsored presentations and white papers, peer-reviewed articles and presentations at professional organization meetings.  Participates in programs designed to educate customers.  Provides post-implementation followup
    *  Supports review and creation of clinical best practice documents.  Voice of the customer in all phases of product development process.  Provides feedback regarding product development and quality
    *  Collaborates with sales training to develop and deploy clinical sales mentoring program designed to extend clinical executive sponsorship capabilities.
    *  Attends and participates in designated meetings across the businesses.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.  Pharm D or advanced degree preferred
  • Must have minimum 5 years experience in Pharmacy Operations with Pharmacy infomatics preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience demonstrating software products within the healthcare industry in pre-sales environment preferred
  • Must have experience with Pharmacy Pperations, barcode readiness and medication safety
  • Must have knowledge and expertise regarding TJC guidelines, regulatory agencies and medication safety with demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of industry best practice
  • Excellent Verbal Communication Skills - must be able to participate comfortably in meetings across all levels of engagement.
  • Ability to effectively interface with individuals of varied backgrounds; develop relationships and establish rapport.
  • Must understand and evaluate clinical issues and be able to predict needs and trends
  • Must possess strong project leadership skills with ant ability to manage multiple projects, establish processes and handle competing interests while meeting critical time frames.
  • Must have exceptional presentation skills and be able to conduct presentations comfortably to large groups at clinical and executive level. 
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics.
  • Must have excellent written communication skills with the ability to format and create reports abased on data extraction and analysis.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively on different projects and with different teams throughout  the organization.
  • Must have the aptitude to acquire knowledge about computer applications: various databases and report writers.  Must have above average knowledge of computer applications:  Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Ability to work independently without requiring day to day supervision on assigned projects.
  • Requires 75% travel
