Job Description

PSH - Design Manager

The Public Sector Healthcare group at CGI Federal is looking for a senior Visual Design Manager to join our project team. Individual must be highly collaborative and have ability that includes both actual design and management of the design process. The candidate will be responsible for driving and contributing to:

  • User needs analysis
  • Information architecture and interaction design of Website pages
  • Iterative prototyping of Website pages
  • Management of client feedback
  • Facilitation of usability testing and review of usability testing results to refine design concepts
  • Teaching and mentoring usability best practices and user-centered design methods within the project team.
  • Creation of design related documentation (style guides, etc.)

    For large efforts, some level of design work is generally subcontracted out to an external design firm. In these instances, the Design Manager will be reponsible for providing oversight and due diligience on subcontracted design activities. This includes:
  • Coordination of design tasks across CGI and the subcontracted design firm.
  • Integrated project planning activities relative to design
  • Managerment of subcontracted scope and budget relative to design
  • Risk and Issue Management related to design tasks
  • Review of subcotnracted design related deliverables

    Required skills include:
  • 4-6 years experience with Website visual design, interaction design, and user experience.
  • Fluency with core graphic design principles (typography, form, color, composition, imagery, card sorting, etc.)
  • Experience designing Section 508 compliant Websites
  • Experience with design of Web 2.0 applications
  • Experience using MS project
  • Expert in the use of tools such Adobe Creative Suite, FLASH/FLEX, or other widely accepted design tools.
  • Ability to carry forward the design for a website or web-based application through wireframes, interaction design, visual experience, and the realization of that design through HTML/CSS and innovative use of interactive technologies: Flash, Silverlight, CSS/JavaScript.
  • Experience on rapid and iternative design and development processes
  • Experience working with Content Management Systems a plus
