Laboratory Technician GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES ? Assist, mentors, and evaluates performance of junior level personnel, and assists in the development of training programs ? Works independently in a fast paced environment with the flexibility to manage changing priorities ? Qualification testing of military and civilian aircraft hydraulic filters, valves, and manifolds. ? Production testing of filter elements and manifolds SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES/AREAS UNDER INCUMBENTS CONTROL ' Supports tests engineers in the development of test procedures to customer specifications: ' Perform flow/pressure/temperature testing ' Perform Vibration and Shock testing ' Perform endurance and impulse testing. ' Perform low/high temperature resistance tests. ' Perform high pressure and extreme temperature testing ' Enhance existing test processes by using standard tools such as functional test and system test where applicable depending on complexity, volume, cost and manufacturing cycle such as NPI or production, ' Support set up and validation test equipment, software, and fixtures for products. ' Monitor test yields using data collection system based on set quality goals, and: Verify test set up and provide enhancements through procedural, mechanical or automation software additions to improve yields and test process. ' Analyze, debug and support 'non-functional' test stations, fixtures, and equipments and establish a plan to minimize down time. ' Mentor/Train junior test engineers on performing test process, provide additional documentation if needed. ' Ensure the safety of the test operator and/or technician is designed into the test process and never jeopardized. ' Oversee testing of products with source inspectors and FAA witnesses ' Insure test setups and procedures produce repeatable and quality results ' Identify and address process improvement activities within the lab ' Maintain a safe working environment. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: ? Ability to work independently is required. ? Delivers quality results with deadline pressure ? Demonstrated strong work ethic and influencing skills ? Interpersonal Communication Skills (verbal and written) ? Must have Strong Analytical Skills ? A commitment to follow-up is essential for success. ? Self-starter with history of innovation and creative problem solving ? Must have a focus on safety. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: ? Four year technical degree preferred. ? Hydraulics, electronics, and instrumentation background required. ? Preferred 10 years minimum experience with hydraulic components and measuring systems. ? Computer literacy required in Microsoft Word, & spreadsheets. ? Prior military background helpful. ? PLC and Digital Data Acquisition background helpful. ? Prior wind tunnel experience helpful. ? Good electro-mechanical background and A & P license desirable. ? Prior testing and Mil-spec vibration experience highly desirable. ? Must have good organizational and communication skills LANGUAGE SKILLS: The incumbent/candidate must have and exhibit the ability to read complicated technical specifications and procedures. The candidate must be able to communicate with engineering on the status of test status and performance. They must also be able to communicate with suppliers and maintenance to coordinate the upgrade of equipment.
