Job Summary:

Pharmacy Technicians provide technical services that require professional judgment regarding the preparation and distribution of drug products. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, the technician is responsible for entering new prescriptions for patients and dispensing prescription medications via use of the SI Baker fulfillment system. Will also stock drugs received from daily deliveries and participate in physical inventories.


Responsibilities:

  • Enter prescription information into the data processing system

  • Medications are dispensed in five separate areas. All technicians must be proficient in all department workstations.

  • Reconstituting medication

  • Loading bulk unlabeled drugs into an automated dispensing system

  • Affixing prescription labels to the prescription container

  • Initiating and receiving authorization requests under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist

  • Research and resolve escalated member issues

  • Data entry of member demographics

  • Putting away stock received daily as well as pulling outdated drugs from stock

  • Counting drugs as needed during physical inventories

  • Use and routine maintenance of automated counting devices

  • Meets and/or exceeds departmental employee performance standards

  • Other Duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • CPhT certification required

  • Current New Mexico State Pharmacy Technician license


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years experience working as a Pharmacy Technician

  • Basic computer and mathematical skills

  • Proficient data entry skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
