Job Description:

The Design Electrical Engineer for Americas' Electrical in Glendale, WI will develop transformer, reactor and inductor designs that are efficient, economically acceptable and superior to our competitors’.

Key responsibilities of this individual are:

  • Design Transformers and Reactors for low and high power applications, 1VA – 1,000KVA at low frequencies (
  • Design Transformers and Inductors for high frequency applications (1khz – 500khz, 1Watt – 10KW).
  • Responsible for new product designs, cost estimates, and research development initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance and be familiar with UL, ANSI, NEMA and other applicable standards.
  • Prepare applications for UL listing; as assigned.
  • Provide technical assistance to Technical Sales, Quality Assurance and Manufacturing as required/requested.
  • Approve and initial drawing changes, initiated by ECO’s, affecting his/her area of responsibility.
  • Generate cost reduction ideas for evaluation and evaluate cost reduction ideas of others in the Division as required.
  • Must be capable of communicating clearly and concisely with others so that engineering documents can be completed efficiently.
  • Provide guidance and leadership, based on experience, for Associate Electrical Engineers, testers and Drafters.
  • Encourage and demonstrate, by example, an attitude of providing service to Customers, Sales, Manufacturing and other departments.
  • Be prepared to accomplish other job-related tasks commensurate with your ability and experience, as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Participate in professional groups/societies such as NEMA and IEEE as assigned.


Job Requirements

Qualified individuals will possess the following attributes:

  • Transformer Design Knowledge

Required Experience

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 5 years experience or equivalent related engineering experience
  • Experience using SolidWorks.  AutoCAD, CADKey and ProE are a plus
  • Experience with Transformer Design software such as OPS and Ansoft
  • Oracle Based ERP Systems
  • Requires UL/CSA knowledge of transformers
  • Ability to manage concurrent projects independently in a team environment
  • Strong organizational, written, oral and professional skills
  • Thorough knowledge of accepted design methods/concepts, design principles and basic engineering skills required
