As a Personal Care Assistant, you will: *Appropriately assist patients/clients with personal care activities in accordance with the personal care plan including baths (tub, shower, bed, bath), mouth care, denture care, skin care, foot care, grooming (shampoo, dry and comb hair, shave, filing of nails), elimination needs (bedpan, commode, toilet), transferring (bed to chair, to wheelchair, to tub, to shower), dressing and undressing activities, and ambulation. *Appropriately assist with household tasks directly essential to the patient/client's health and in accordance with the personal care plan including planning and preparing nutritious meals, assist in feeding patient/client as directed, light housekeeping of patient/client's immediate environment (change linens, make bed, laundry of patient/client's clothing and bedding.) *Accurately measure and record temperature, pulse, and respiration when ordered (within training limitations.) *Demonstrate appropriate knowledge for safe and effective use of equipment (Hoyer lift, side rails, wheelchairs, oxygen, etc.) within training limitations. *Assist the patient/client in self-administration of medication (i.e., assist the self-directed patient/client to take their medications as assigned by the RN and documented on the personal services care plan.)
Qualifications *Will have fulfilled the requirements of a Personal Care Worker if specified by state regulations *Ability to read, write, understand, carry out directions, and keep simple medical records *Reliable means of transportation *Physical ability to perform job-related duties which may require lifting, standing, bending, transferring, stooping, stretching, walking, pushing, pulling and the ability to provide partial or complete assistance with activities of daily living, without assistance from another healthcare worker or significant other
