Pipeline/Production Engineer

Job Description:

An opening exists for a Production Engineer position with The Dow Chemical Company in the Gulf Coast Pipeline in Texas. Gulf Coast Pipeline has Texas offices in Angleton, Seadrift, Houston, Texas City and LaPorte. This position will have responsibilities for the South Texas District including the Markham/Bay City/Seadrift facilities.  A total of 3300 miles of pipeline transport materials across the Texas/Louisiana gulf coast within Dow plants, across sites, as well as in the public domain.  The job involves support for the operation of the Dow Gulf Coast Pipeline system for partner plants by supplying them with quality products in a safe, reliable and cost effective manner.  
 
Key Role Responsibilities include:  

  •         Provide technical support on operational and maintenance issues
  •         Develop scope for major maintenance projects & provide engineering support for the successful shut-down, construction, and start-up activities
  •         Work with commercial group to identify and execute opportunities
  •         Support Right Of Way group in establishing constraints/concerns for third party pipeline activity
  •         Coordinate outages to make necessary pipeline adjustments
  •         Determine asset capability for gas scheduling/planning purposes
  •         Participate and/or facilitate audits for DOT (Department of Transportation)/Railroad Commission, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S), and the Technology Center
  •         Investigate reliability issues for pipeline components/systems
  •         Development and/or execution of capital improvements
     



    Job Requirements:

  •         Minimum of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering is required (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical is preferred)
  •         Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing is preferred.  
  •         Knowledge of pipeline operations, hydrocarbons products, and unit operations is desirable but not required.
  •         Six Sigma training and familiarity is desirable but not required
  •         Requires moderate travel to pipeline locations on the Texas Gulf Coast - travel is normally day travel.
