Independently plan, schedule and perform computations/analyses, prepare and make presentations, and document results in technical reports. Perform structural analyses in support of the design and design verification of rocket propulsion systems and flight vehicles. Analyze complex features of the work and apply principles and practices of structural analysis, or devise new approaches in problem solutions. Thoroughly review all results from assigned tasks and determine if outputs are complete, correct, integrated with project objectives, and adequately documented. Follow existing processes and procedures and recommend process improvements where appropriate.
Requirements
BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structural analysis from an ABET accredited institution with a minimum of 8 years applicable experience is required. A minimum of 5 years experience in the application of stress analysis of structural systems using strength of materials and finite element based methods is required. Familiarity with the structural design and analysis of rocket propulsion systems is desired. Experience should include the application of finite element methods and the assessment of failure mechanisms such as rupture, yield, buckling, fatigue and fracture. Experience with the design and analysis of joints containing mechanical fasteners and welds is desired. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Experience with PATRAN, NASTRAN, ABAQUS, or ANSYS is desired.
