Job Description:
Responsible for installation of network equipment, layer3 switches, routers, Optic WDM transport, Sonet, DS3 coax, fiber optic jumpers, pads. Work to include, both Commercial customer installations and Cran Network Augments, or expansions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Trace and verify connections and label following Comcast standards. Document existing and newly installed equipment locations, connections, interfaces.
  • Rack or mount electronics.
  • Configuration of switches, routers, optic transport.
  • Manage commercial customer installations assigned.
  • Report on projects on weekly conference call with Comcast Commercial Services.
  • Handle RMA process for failed equipment with various vendors.
  • Responsible for keeping spares database current and accurate; closing out Clarify tasks and updating Metasolve circuit information.
  • Testing Ethernet, OC-3 through OC-192, DS3, T1 circuits using, Tbird, Net test, Fluke, Spirent Smartbits.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Commercial customer links within Comcast and customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot and repair transport optic circuits throughout the Region.
  • Perform On-Call rotation.
  • Must be self driven to manage projects, complete task in timely fashion, have pride and ownership of all task and projects. 

  • Job Requirements 

    Education/ Knowledge:
  • 3+ years experience in similar role
  • Solid understanding of fiber optic connectors, wavelengths, cleaning procedures and measurements required
  • Knowledge of Telnet, FTP, Hyper terminal, Command line interface required.
  • Formal Training on OTDR, OSA, Power meter, Ethernet testing, Sonet testing, a plus.
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Nortel and/or Tellabs hardware a plus.
