Our leading investment banking and securities business provides a broad range of products and services to our corporate and institutional clients, governments, financial intermediaries and alternative asset managers.DescriptionThe Equity Capital Markets Team (ECMG) is responsible for all equity product origination and execution for UBS clients in the Americas. We are looking for an Associate Director to join our common equity origination team in New York.You will:
  • Be a junior coverage officer working alongside ECM originators and bankers to originate and execute equity across the UBS client coverage universe
  • Present the UBS ECMG perspective on the equity capital markets from a macro and pricing perspective both internally and to clients
  • Create marketing materials that highlight the strength of the UBS equity platform across the product spectrum, including initial public offerings, follow-ons, block trades, and at-the-market offerings
  • Conduct detailed analyses of and provide opinions on various other equity monetization, structural, and corporate finance considerations, including carve-outs, spins-offs, dividend policy, and shareholder trends (industry /sector holding trends, detailed targeting analyses, deal participation trends, flowback, etc.)
  • Work alongside equity syndicate and equity sales during deal execution and coordinate feedback flows to both bankers and clients on markets, company peers, deal color, trading flows, etc.
  • Partner with other ECM sub-product groups, such as Structured Equity Capital Markets (SECM), Special Equities Group (SEG), and Alternative Capital Markets (ACMG) to present, structure and execute the optimal equity financing solution to clients across the convertible, buyback or private financing spectrum
  • Work alongside Debt Capital Markets (DCMG), Ratings Advisory, Capital Structure & Solutions and Corporate Solutions to present holistic capital markets solutions to clients across industries
  • Supervise and mentor a team of analysts in creating client-ready deliverables that are of the highest qualityRequirementsQualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years corporate finance / investment banking experience and / or experience in an equity research, sales, or trading role; candidate would ideally possess direct equity transaction experience
  • Extensive knowledge of markets and the macro-economy; ability to thoughtfully articulate major market drivers and industry-specific dynamics that affect the equity issuance landscape
  • Strong financial background with detailed valuation knowledge; must be able to demonstrate thorough understanding of the drivers and levers of capital structure across industries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to present succinct viewpoints and recommendations
  • High energy and drive; ability to work long and intense (banker and trader) hours and coordinate deliverables / teams across different locations
  • A self-starter and an independent thinker, with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment with limited or no supervision
