This new company retained the name Clearwire.In conjunction with this transaction, Intel Corporation (through Intel Capital); Google Inc.; Comcast Corporation; Time Warner Cable Inc; and Bright House Networks collectively invested $3.2 billion into Clearwire.Manager Data Center DesignJob Objective Recruit, develop and lead a group of engineers to generate detailed power, cooling, inside plant cabling and equipment designs for data centers. Responsibilities This person is responsible for the overall performance and capacity of Clearwire data centers.Hire and develop highly skilled and motivated engineers.Ensure that best practices are used in design, testing and implementation of technical solutions. Lead the design of redundant, highly capable systems to support multiyear datacenter requirements in the following areas: DC and AC power plant and PDU infrastructureHVAC systemsFacility space planning and physical layout of equipmentPhysical security systemsCopper and fiber structured cabling systems.Work cross functionally with IP, server, transport, microwave and RF engineering teams to generate standard designs for Clearwire facilities based on business requirements.Qualify network equipment for data center use, characterize the facilities requirements and manage integration into designs.Generate engineering design packages used by the installation teams, manage the handoff process and resolve design issues during installation.Develop preventative maintenance plans and train the operational teams in successful support practices.Manage team to perform design reviews, integration testing and implementation in conjunction with technology teams. Establish KPIs during design phase; ensure test plans are adequate to verify KPIs can be met with new systems. Minimum Qualifications:
  • 7-10 years experience in data center design and implementation
  • 3-5 years experience in hiring and managing engineering and design teams
  • Experience managing vendors and outsourcing companies.
  • Extensive design experience with large scale DC and AC power systems, HVAC systems and structured cabling.
  • Experience with networking equipment, knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals and understanding of out of band management systems.
  • Experience with and knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data centers.
  • Strong process focus and project management skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bachelors degree in technical discipline required.
