Position Summary
 
JOB TITLE:           SR. ACCOUNT MANAGER, AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS 
REPORTS TO:    SALES DIRECTOR, AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS                  
           
BASIC FUNCTION: To retain, service and profitably grow existing Automotive sales accounts through effective customer relationship management and by providing sound technical and business counsel to key customer contacts. To grow sales by adding new accounts through focused prospecting and utilizing a thorough understanding of the value proposition of the Automotive product offering. Actively and professionally participate as a member of the Automotive sales team and the company.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
1.      Maintain effective and professional customer relations through regular face-to-face contact with key accounts in well-planned meetings. Review and discuss the financial/operational condition of their business to determine the most appropriate positioning of current products and the need for new product offerings. Thoroughly review the features and benefits of the Automotive product line.
 
2.      Coordinate customer support activities, away from the customer locations, to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of products per specifications.
 
3.      Command an in-depth understanding of opportunities, customers and competitors (including their products and service offering) in assigned territory. Aggressively prospect for new accounts by following up on references and customer service inquiries, through cold calling, and visiting competitor accounts with focus on new products and a more profitable product mix. Utilize a thorough understanding of the features and benefits of the Automotive product line to win profitable new business.
 
4.      Actively participate in and contribute to required administrative processes. These include utilizing company tools to collect market intelligence, contributing to the innovation process with an ongoing flow of product ideas and market opportunities, completing required reports accurately and timely, and being a positive contributor in meetings, conference calls, etc.
 
5.      Effectively and efficiently manage time and territory to maximize customer-centered activities. Utilize proper planning techniques and capitalize on the use of technology to minimize non-productive time and redundant activities.

Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  •         5-8 years of Automotive or related industry sales experience, Automotive manufacturing experience, and a four year college degree are highly desirable.
     
  •         Strong customer relationship management, interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) are essential.
     
  •         Understanding of Automotive products used in customer applications is highly desirable.
     
  •         Understanding of Automotive Industry processes in relation to Quality and Material Procurement is highly desirable.
     
  •         Must have proficient computer skills and be capable in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
     
  •         Must be persistent and resilient.
     
  •         Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
     
    SUCCESS PROFILE:
     
    Based on an analysis of high performers, it was determined that a successful Account Executive will possess:
     
         Extensive background in the Automotive or related industry, including in-depth manufacturing experience.
     
        A broad understanding of the physical properties, technical applications, and performance characteristics of Automotive in end-use applications.
          The discipline to spend at least 60% of their time on customer focused activities, while minimizing the time spent on administration and travel.
