Description:
Provides event management services in support of a large corporate network that includes a variety of environments such as: Mainframes, including events originating in the batch and on-line environments, Servers running various operating systems, Databases and business applications, Desktop and mobile single user environments, Routers Switches Network fabric.
 Performs initial research on events detected by automation to assess business impact, understand significance and categorize incidents.
Analyzes events to determine whether the event exists as a known error, with or without a documented resolution, and attempts to apply fix wherever possible.
Makes an assignment to the appropriate resolver group if no solution is available.
Makes recommendations to improve operating efficiency and functionality of assigned system areas.
Provides training for less experienced staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
Two to five years of experience using enterprise system management tools, automated system monitoring, network operations and troubleshooting.
A two year degree in a computer related or network concentration.
A four year degree and completed certifications are a plus.
Preferred skills/experience
Thorough knowledge of critical hardware, software, control/monitoring procedures, protocols and configurations
Experience using HP Service Manager, Tivoli Netcool, HP OVO/NNM, CA eHealth, SNMP, Syslog, Gomez or equivalent event management tools.
Familiarity with mainframe computing technologies, principles and concepts.
Good understanding of MVS and JES commands, workload automation tools, and batch processing concepts.
Ability to respond and resolve job abends using instructions in JCL.
Capable of troubleshooting connectivity issues between LPARs and networked hosts such as UNIX and Windows servers and applications.

Understanding of best practices for ITIL event management.
Ability to mulit-task.
Ability to quickly deal with complexity and logically deduce root cause.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Desire to excel, motivation and good attitude.
