Typical candidates for this role have not only developed data mining algorithms but also built large scale systems incorporating them. This is a hands-on role and if you have dealt with large amounts of sparse data and love to work with a team of smart engineers, you will love this.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in Computer Science or related field with experience in natural language processing, computational linguistics, or information retrieval/extraction. The candidate will create a world-class web data-mining system, capable of extracting sentiments, topics, meaning and structure from unstructured web documents and data. Create a system that can efficiently and effectively discover, and understand domain-specific knowledge in hundreds of millions of web pages. The successful candidate will implement the crawling, data mining, and machine-learning algorithms.

Strong programming skills are required. At least two years of experience working with real life machine learning environment. A strong research record is a plus.

Qualifications
� Research, investigate, pick industrial data mining / machine learning algorithms
� Implement these algorithms using grid computing & affect the product direction

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
� MS / Ph.D. in computer science (with emphasis in data mining / machine learning / artificial intelligence / mathematics)
� 6+ years industry experience in data mining and machine learning on large amounts of sparse data.
� Must have experience in Hadoop/MapReduce

Education/Training
� PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science related to machine learning, data mining, or semantic search
� Background in software development a must

Experience
� Experience with search, navigation, inventory and pricing strategies
� Structured thinker, Effective communicator, Excellent programming skills
� Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques, and object-oriented programming
� Experience developing software using Java, C/C++ on Linux
� Experience with hadoop / hive, DB2, MySQL
