Job Description

the journeybegins withyou.                                                                                            There's quite a distance between wondering and knowing. And for patients waiting for answers to important health questions, it's a road they want to travel as quickly as possible. At Quest Diagnostics Incorporated, we understand urgency. But more than speed, we focus our energies on accuracy. Currently we are seeking a SMAS Representative I.

As a SMAS Representative I, you will perform the daily activities as described below.

Duties and Responsibilities:1. Responsible for SMAS specimen preparation technical procedures which include but not limited to: DNA extraction, peripheral blood mononuclear cell separation (PBMCs), RNA preparation, and sterile aliquoting.  Procedures may also include client specific methods for specimen preparation.2. Responsible for inventory and retrieving SMAS specimens from all storage devices (-70°C freezers, liquid nitrogen, refrigerator, etc.). Specimens are not only critical but also non-replaceable.  If errors occur in this function, the liability for Quest Diagnostics Clinical Trials is extremely high.3. Responsible for packing and shipping specimens to clients in the U.S.and internationally following all IATA Regulations.4. Responsible for freezer quality assurance and quality control.5. Responsible for FDA requirements regarding proper GLP procedures in inventory and retrieval of specimens.6. Responsible for thorough problem solving of specimen issues using TOPCAT computer system.7. Keep inventories of supplies and reorder when necessary.8. Adherence to all safety regulations concerning specimen handling.9. Extensive interaction and problem solving with all areas of Clinical Trials.

Education:Associates degree highly desirable

Work Experience:Two years specimen processing/handling experience. Experience as a lab technician preferred.Experience with computer inventory systems.

Special Requirements:1. Knowledge of GLP regulations, IATA shipping regulations, and ICH GCP guidelines.2.  Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of TOPCAT system.. 3. Ability to work with little direct supervision, must show initiative.3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and still be part of a team.4. Detail oriented under strict deadlines.5. Working experience with clinical trials operations and procedures required.6. Excellent verbal communication skills and follow-through.
