IT Architect- data warehouse

Corporate Center partners with the business divisions to ensure that the firm operates as an effective and integrated whole with a common vision and set of values.DescriptionUBS Investment Bank seeks an IT Architect to be part of the IBD Architecture team. This team provides the steer for major programmes within IBD IT and ensures that applications are designed with appropriate level of quality and for the right cost. This role requires solid design and development skills acquired through a mix of academic study and experience of working in a variety of companies. The successful candidate will be a senior technologist with the credibility to set the technical direction of the development team. The role is very much hands-on; the successful candidate will have up-to-date, relevant technical skills and is still capable of writing application code. ResponsibilitiesThe initial, primary focus of this role will be architecture responsibilities for our MIS Strategy. Solid, architecture level experience with Business Objects and data warehouses in Oracle are required for this role. More generally, responsibilities are to conceptualize, design and assist in the implementation of new and existing systems, middleware, data warehouse and production architectures. Working with the infrastructure team to set direction of the technical platform and own the delivery roadmap. To work with IT and business management to establish requirements and service levels for new and existing technology and systems. To review new and existing systems in the context of the design and engineering standards agreed within the department. To represent IBD IT in the wider bank technology processes.Requirements

Minimum 5 years experience as IT architects with significant hands on experience of the design and implementation of strategic architectures within a business critical environment.

Minimum 5 years experience with data warehousing.Preferred Qualifications

Successful candidates will have a depth and breadth of technology skills that includes some of: Practical experience in either C# or Java (ideally both), Database Technologies (Oracle, Sybase), Data Warehousing, Data Modelling and XML, SharePoint, Documentum, Web Services, Object Oriented Modelling (UML), Middleware Messaging Technologies (e.g. Webmethods, TIBCO, MQ series, etc.). Linux or Solaris, Perl

Financial services knowledge is highly desirable but not essential. We seek a financial services attitude that combines a can do motivation with a structured approach to delivery and quality

Good communication skills and a high degree of credibility are imperative

Ability to structure thinking into a concise Functional, Technical, Operational and Data architecture clearly digestible by other members of the team.

Experience operating in a global environment with an international team.

An appreciation and enthusiasm to work with both established and new technology

Ability to act both at the strategic and detailed implementation levels, as appropriate

A proven track record of successful systems design and development
