Director of Environmental Health and Safety

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety ensures that adequate policies and procedures are formulated and implemented for proper management of all areas pertinent to campus-wide environmental health and safety, including biological, infectious, pathological, chemical, radiological and physical hazard programs. Ideal candidate has experience with related training initiatives for medical professionals, administrative staff, and skilled trades, and is familiar with compliance and inspection functions related to remodeling, design and construction of new facilities. Utilization of information technology methods is required for accurate data management and analysis. An advanced degree in a basic science, industrial hygiene, health physics, environmental or occupational health or closely related discipline is required, as well as 7-10 years of management experience in a large Research I institution. Professional certification, knowledge of governmental regulations pertinent to environmental health and safety program management, and excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed.
