Job Description

Kelly Scientific Resources is seeking a Chemist to conduct water treatment projects for a client in the oilfield services industry. The main function of the position is to set-up, maintain, collect data, and tear down a project water treatment plant at remote locations. Additional duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Conduct water treatment projects in an efficient and timely manner.
Thorough documentation and note taking of site conditions, events, water qualities, operational parameters and all other variables associated with each project.
Interact with end users and consulting engineers to complete project objectives and relay testing data.
Provide site leadership and direct individuals to complete projects in a timely efficient manner while meeting objectives of customer.
Consolidate project data and compile project reports.
Provide training to operators for product line.
Provide start-up services for product line.
Evaluate potential applications for specific technologies, coordinate and establish protocols for lab analysis, evaluate jar testing data and establish chemical feed requirements for future projects, coordinate equipment to project site.

The position requires the following skills:
B.S. or B.A. in Chemistry
Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Scientific report writing and analysis of data
Ability to follow testing protocols
Complex problem solving and analytical skills required
Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time
Should be able to work as a team player as well as unsupervised
The physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
Safety oriented
Experience in working with environmental renovations

The following skills are preferred:
Previous work in water treatmentKnowledge of chemical analytical methods for the examination of water and wastewater
Knowledge of sampling methods and procedures for water and wastewaterExperience with field sampling and testing
Ability to obtain Surface Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator Licenses
Good communication skills
Basic understanding of Water and Wastewater operations and utility management
Basic knowledge of water treatment facilities with the ability to operate and trouble shoot systems
Ability to work independently to efficiently achieve objectives and goals

This is a temporary contract position with the potential to be hired full time. This is a non-exempt position with 70-90 hours of overtime per month including evenings and weekends. The work schedule will be 3 weeks on and 1 week off or 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. When traveling, the work schedule will be 10 hour days, 6-7 days a week. Pay rate for the position is $21.00/hour. All air fare and hotel stay is paid plus a daily per diem while traveling. Opportunity for advancement is available once field operations are mastered.
