What General Accounting contributes to Cardinal Health

General Accounting is responsible for maintaining the financial books and records and preparing financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.


What is expected of you for success in your role
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of respective area, accounting practices and policies
  • Prepares and reviews more complex transactions such as eliminations and consolidations
  • Reviews financial reporting within own area to assess accuracy.
  • Researches variances, and corrects accounting transactions and balances
  • Applies accounting knowledge and policies to properly state account balances requiring judgment or estimation

Accountabilities in this role

  • Responsible for the consolidation of the financial statements for selected business units within the Medical segment (Medical Supply Chain, Clinical/Procedural and Canada).  The position will leverage a qualified candidate's accounting skill-set and afford them the opportunity to perform high-level oversight for the new Medical segment in FY2010.
  • Perform monthly/quarterly close responsibilities related to: reserve/accrual adjustments, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement review, balance sheet analytics, and other close activities.
  • Prepare analysis and reporting of investments.
  • Prepare analysis of equity activity.
  • Prepare reports to government agencies.
  •  Perform quarterly SEC reporting responsibilities, including (but not limited to) goodwill, intangibles and equity
  • Assist external auditors with quarterly and annual compliance requests.
  • Assist in preparation of Corporate Tax Packages and Corporate Tax inquiries.
  • Perform monthly analysis of Other Income/Expense (Sundry) and prepare annual plan.
  • Provide ad-hoc business unit support.

    Qualifications

  • BA in accounting or finance or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 3 yrs experience
  • Strong communication & analytical skills
  • SAP knowledge preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to effectively prioritize projects & goals, be flexible, and team oriented
  • Consistently and accurately meet deadlines
  • Good organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be highly motivated self-starter and be results oriented
