For additional information on DRS, please visit our website at www.drs.com DRS Marlo Coil 's 210,000 sq. ft. administrative and manufacturing facility is located 30 miles southwest of St. Louis, Missouri. DRS Marlo Coil has been a leading manufacturer of custom engineered coils, refrigeration and air handling systems since 1925. Our engineering and design expertise are utilized in applications for aerospace, food processing, healthcare, semi-conductors, pharmaceutical industries and Navy & Marine applications. We also supply coil and air handling equipment to a number of OEM's. Our primary sales territories are in the United States, Puerto Rico and Canada. In addition, DRS Marlo Coil is the United States Navy's largest supplier of heating and cooling marine coils, air handling units, product coolers and refrigeration plants. The Military Sealift Command, United State Coast Guard and international governments are also users of this equipment. We operate on a 9/80 work schedule, all employees work 80 hrs in 9 days and have every other Friday off. Position Summary
The Director of Quality is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the company’s Quality Management System & Continuous Improvement Program. Provides oversight and direction to Quality Assurance personnel and programs for the manufacturing facility. Ensures that the overall mission and goals are achieved by participating in the formulation and approval of all Quality Assurance and technical programs, policies and procedures related to the department oversight and responsibility. Also responsible for the management of the full scope for the department and for the development and administration for the department budget. Ensures that the facility is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Duties and ResponsibilitiesEstablishes and maintains the overall quality program for the company. Manages the design, budget, and manpower forecasts for the quality function.Develops and implements the organization’s quality control policies and programs related to the inspection, sampling, testing and packaging of manufactured parts and finished products.Promotes and assures that product quality, principles, practices, and requirements are fulfilled in support of product development and manufacturing. Maintains an internal audit and monitoring system that ensures quality management practices; manufacturing processes, and designated support systems are operating in compliance with documented procedures and achieving desired outcome throughout the businessLeads the development and implementation of metrics and systems to measure and guide improvements to product and system quality and customer satisfaction.Monitors the regulatory compliance of the organization with respect to current regulations, any inspection findings, and adherence to the Company’s QA program. Reviews and recommends appropriate corrective action to ensure consistency with total quality management.Plans and provides appropriate technical and systems training to all staff to support and enhance product quality and the Company quality system.Participates in the establishment of quality specifications and standards for raw materials, and for process finished products.Interfaces with marketing, manufacturing, engineering and key suppliers to establish quality requirements for products and services on the basis of customer needs, the function of the product, and its reliability, salability and value; and ensures that quality considerations are properly addressed as early as possible in the product-design stage. Confers with senior management, customers, and other representative in the planning, scheduling, coordinating, and directing quality assurance in conformance with customer requirements, engineering specifications and production schedules.Responsible for establishing and developing the reliability program and issuance of the formal product and process specifications, Administers a continuing program of review and analysis to audit the quality of the reliability program results.Assists in the development and approval of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory agencies and to be utilized in QA programs.Oversees the creation and maintenance of internal communication programs and processes to ensure both senior management’s and the organization’s awareness of compliance issues, activities and federal, state and local regulatory activities that affect technical and quality compliance.Ensures compliance with government regulations.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience in product development and manufacturing quality.Thorough knowledge of and demonstrated skills in quality management and improvement practices and programs such as six sigma, Lean 6’s and TQM.Thorough knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO 9000- series and quality system standardsKnowledge of product development and manufacturing activities such as validations and verification procedures, design of experiments, statistical process control, FEMA and other risk assessment techniques and Good Laboratory Practices.Experience in a government contracting or manufacturing environment is required.US citizenship is required. Additional Desirable Qualifications Skills and Knowledge Interpersonal skills for successful interaction with all levels of the organization.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Analytical skills successful evaluation of product quality status and needs.Ability to use software programs including the Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling software.
