Northern Dutchess Hospital, a not-for profit, community hospital, governed by a voluntary board of trustees, was incorporated in 1923 in the village of Rhinebeck on the northwestern edge of Dutchess County, in the mid-Hudson Valley of New York State. The hospital serves a region of small towns and villages extending east to the Taconic Parkway and north into the southwestern sections of Columbia County.

Northern Dutchess Hospital is a 68-bed acute care, not-for-profit, community hospital offering a full range of emergency, medical and surgical services, as well as comprehensive outpatient and community-based services.

Serving a population of 153,000 people in its primary and secondary service areas, the Hospital offers healthcare services to residents of northern Dutchess, southern Columbia, and parts of Ulster counties.

The current medical staff totals over 200 practitioners offering health care services in approximately 30 specialty areas: pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, family practice, ophthalmology, orthopedics, surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesia/pain management, neurology, gastroenterology, psychology, oncology, urology and plastic surgery.

Support services include physical and occupational therapy, laboratory and pathology, dietetics, respiratory care, medical social work, diagnostic radiology and cardiology, pharmacy, speech/language pathology, audiology, podiatry and primary vision care. The Neugarten Family Birth Center, which was the first hospital-based birthing center in New York State when it opened in 1985, delivers more than 700 babies each year. The team of physicians, midwives, nurses and staff work together to ensure a high level of sophisticated medical care in a setting that is aesthetically pleasing and conducive to family-centered, non-intervention obstetrics. The center also features a birthing room specifically designed for water births and water therapy.

Women's View, a center without walls, celebrated its Grand Opening in May 2004. The center encompasses a full range of diagnostic, medical and wellness services for women including: obstetrics and gynecology services, physical therapy programs, nutritional counseling, lymphedema management, therapeutic massage, acupuncture, Reiki and many support and educational programs such as yoga, hypno-birthing, and weight management.

Paul Rosenthal Rehabilitation Center provides state-of-the-art, comprehensive acute inpatient rehabilitation for those who have suffered from stroke, brain injury, degenerative neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, orthopedic impairments, joint replacements, multiple traumas and fractures.

The Bone & Joint Center at Northern Dutchess Hospital is a comprehensive orthopedic program incorporating a wide array of services including new technology for computer assisted orthopedic surgery, joint replacement, the Arthritis Center (rheumatology), pain management, sports medicine, bone densitometry for osteoporosis screening, and physical and occupational therapy.

NDH Center for Wellness and Rehabilitation opened in 1994 and is home to a cardiac rehabilitation program, a state-of-the-art physical and occupational therapy department, and a speech and hearing program. The Wellness Center also houses a 2,706 square foot exercise and weight training area, as well as group exercise classes.

The Thompson House Residential and Rehabilitative Care is situated just behind Northern Dutchess Hospital and features medically sophisticated services, highly personalized care, the most current therapeutic equipment, and a "just like home" atmosphere. The not-for-profit, long and short-term rehabilitation health care center has a staff that takes pride in what they do, and are encouraged to pursue excellence in their delivery of care. The Thompson House celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 2004.

Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant

Health-Quest, Mid-Hudson Valley's largest healthcare system is looking for a NP/PA to provide neonatal care at two referring Level I nurseries. Our group includes 3 BC Neonatologists and 7 NNP/PA's. Responsibilities include providing newborn care, attending high risk deliveries, and antenatal maternal consults. Our new hire will also have an opportunity to rotate to a regional Level III NICU.

Preferred candidate should have several years experience and certification or interest in the training that we can provide
