Job Description: Supports and monitors SQL databases and applications. Works with end users to develop business requirement specifications for RFQ documents. Develops and maintains in-house developed programs, applications, and reports. Works with outside contractors on software projects. Performs a variety of tasks as assigned. Works under limited supervision; reports to the IT Director.Essential Functions: Primary administrator for Microsoft SQL databases.Monitors performance and storage growth of all database servers and makes recommendation to the IT Director for upgrades.Responsible for monitoring database server operation, jobs, backup, transaction log checkpoints, and maintenance plans.Responsible for developing, testing, and implementing new databases, scheduled jobs, procedures, custom developed applications, and triggers in the test and development .systems and submission of change requests for the production environment.Responsible for resolving all errors associated with databases and their operation.Gathers end user requirements, designs, develops, and/or modifies custom programs as directed.Works on all data import/export issues as directed.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent professional and interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.Ability to multi-task and work under stressful situations.Proficiency with Microsoft SQL server, database design, database triggers and SQL Query Language.Proficient in full life cycle application design and development in Microsoft VB6, VB.NET, ASP, ASP.NET, C, and C#.Strong project management skills.Strong quality assurance and testing skills with a good understanding of QA methodologies.
