Unix application system administrator with 2+ years of experience running 24x7 web services that cannot go down. This includes the ability to manage a team of distributed resources, working closely with R&D teams that push code constantly, and above all else, understanding the urgency of fixing problems "in real time" when they occur.

Requirements Critical core skills:

Unix (preferably linux) deep systems experience including diagnosing performance problems related to network issues, and memory/CPU utilization.

Previous experience in horizontal "scale out" architectures (ie LAMP), especially around diagnosing bottlenecks and optimizing each of the tiers of the application.

RDBMS experience (preferably MySQL) including understanding schema migration, database monitoring, and overall database architectural issues.

Deep experience with system monitoring (preferably NAGIOS) including writing test scripts and maintaining the quality of notifications and the overall dashboard.

Experience managing servers in large corporate environments, including security, policy compliance, and exception processes.
Critical management skills:

Scheduling, motivating, and maintaining a small team that can cover server uptime 24x7 and provide appropriate 1-st level issue resolution.

Anticipating needs and planning for changes to infrastructure.

Solid communication skills with distributed R&D teams whose code is being supported.

Understanding the pace and urgency of supporting customer-facing web applications.
