Sr. Pension Analyst

Job Description 

Develop financial analysis of pension and 401(k) issues.  Prepare various written communications including results of financial analysis for senior management, plan documents, plan amendments, SPDs, SMMs and other related communication material.  Continually monitor direction of Company's post-retirement strategies and ensure the focus of that direction is maintained. 

 

  • Advise plan specialist of regulatory changes and requirements
  • Assist in resolution of employee/retiree pension and 401(k) issues
  • Assist in the implementation of an effective communication strategies
  • Monitor service from vendors for the various benefit plans to ensure high quality services provided
  • Research best practices and continually benchmark
  • Measure results and provide metrics on performance
  • Participate in developing bargaining agreements/draft contract language
  • Write plan documents, amendments, SPDs and SMMs
  • Coordinate services with consulting actuaries
  • Ensure internal/external regulatory compliance
  • Work with ERIC to ensure plans/program to review issues;
  • Assist in union negotiations
  • Collaborate with union management to resolve issues and problems
  • Prepare Sarbanes Oxley reports and ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Work with auditors to ensure compliance with accounting rules

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 5 years experience in pension plan design and analysis, working with defined benefit and defined contribution plans

 

 Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of both Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans
  • Familiar with non-us retirement plans
  • Experience working in a bargaining environment
  • Working knowledge of FASB, ERISA, DOL, IRS, PBGC, CASB, industry practices, actuarial principles
  • Flexibility dealing with changing regulations
  • Able to work with complex and detailed issues
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical skills - Able to create graphs using Excel/Power Point
  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Finance or related field strongly preferred
  • CEBS certification preferred
  • Pension plan experience in a large company and/or in a multi plan environment strongly preferred
  • Ability to think strategically about post retirement issues
  • Functional knowledge of actuarial principles
  • Ability to travel
