Come see what you can achieve as a leader with GE Energy!Role Summary/PurposeThe Combined Cycle Operation and Optimization Engineer will be a key member of the Thermal Systems Integration team focused on improving total plant competitiveness by creating and evaluating conceptual power block designs optimized around internal and customer CTQ’s. In this role you will utilize your high level of both technical expertise and commercial awareness to lead and integrate multiple areas of expertise. Essential ResponsibilitiesUse domain knowledge in the economics and operation of power plants to drive equipment design requirements with direct focus on customer CTQ’s for total ownership cost and revenue generation Through understanding of power plant equipment design, capabilities and operation and it’s impact on customer’s bottom line leads cross functional teams to develop and analyze multiple options to support optimize conceptual power block designs and methods of operation Generate fundamental trade studies of performance vs. capital and operational cost to support selection of both strategic high-level product requirement and individual component / sub-system configuration decisions Recommend strategic technologies or programs as part of a multi generation program plan (MGPP) focused on total cost of ownership Lead cross-functional component and systems teams from Gas Turbine, Steam turbine Generator and Accessory / BOP in development of optimized design sand operational philosophies Work closely with Power Plant Systems Design organization in integrating total plant considerations, best practices and lessons learned and where applicable, develops design practices or other documentation to capture knowledge Work closely with the Combined Cycle Conceptual Design Engineer on configuration options that maximize customer value (takes a life-cycle product view) Program: Manage assigned program budgets and schedules, drives execution setting priorities and trading program vs technical CTQ’s where necessary Provide accurate plans to incorporate into the business operational plan Interface with Product Management and Project
Qualifications/Requirements Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in engineering Minimum 15 years of Engineering experience with at least 10 years in heavy duty gas turbine combined cycle power block / centerline equipmentGreen Belt certified (GE internal candidates)

Desired Characteristics Experience and solid understanding of power plant operation and economics, able to create economic models that reflect total customer revenue and cost equations (dispatch selection, fuel, operation and emissions costBroad knowledge of different customer requirements and economic drivers across regions and market segments (e.g. base load, cyclic, peaking, process power/co-generation, fuel flex)Team leadership skills, able to engage and motivate diverse cross-functional teams.
