Hours: variable 12-8:30 pm
Job Details: - Directly supervises the daily operations of all staff functions of Access Services or Emergency Department including: registration, triage, discharge desk and admitting/unit desk functions, financial clearance, financial counseling, cashier office, satellite offices, outpatient registration and surgical pre-registration. Identifies and implements opportunities for improvement to revenue cycle processes. Utilizes judgment in interpreting departmental policies to resolve routine to complex inquiries or patient account problems. Demonstrates effective leadership skills and ability to build a strong departmental team. Facilitates regularly scheduled area meetings for subordinate staff. Serves as the primary resource to team members for training, problem resolution, etc. Promotes growth and personal/professional staff development, and acts as a mentor and role model.
Associates Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration or 4 to 6 years of work experience in patient registration or physician practice experience required. Bachelors Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration preferred. 3-5 years Supervisory experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Excellent working knowledge of registration and billing regulatory requirements including Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) and Medicine Secondary Payor. KNOWLEDGE OF: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Word and Excel; ADT systems and Insurance Verification systems required ( SMS, IDX, IBEX, SCM preferred); Knowledge of Managed Care, referral/pre-certification/ authorization, Denials, Patient Accounts and DSS. SKILLS: Computer, typing, data entry; Excellent telephone and communication skills; Excellent organizational skills. ABILITY TO: Demonstrated ability to motivate and supervise staff in a diverse working environment; Handle a fast paced, high volume environment; Ability to interact with patients and family members; Ability to withstand a pressured environment with composure; Ability to prioritize tasks; Work in a team environment along side multiple disciplines; Provide continued guidance and training to peers and delegate effectively.
