Job Description

Compensation: $100000 to $130000 per year

Our client, a very successful professional service company seeks a finance director to join their dynamic team! The primary function of this role is to direct all aspects of the firm's management analysis.
This position serves a key role providing support to the CFO in strategic analysis of the firms operations and results. Prepare analysis reports and presentations that will be presented to the management team. This position requires deep knowledge of data analysis, a commitment to ensuring a high degree of accuracy of the information, and the ability to provide strategic insights on data provided by others.
Oversees project analysts and interacts with various departments in all offices on a day to day basis. Serves principally at the direction of the CFO and will work on projects, routine and special, at the direction of the CFO. Oversees and directs the following activities:
Monthly analysis of operating results
Projects as assigned by the CFO
Respond to ad hoc requests for detailed analysis
Development and maintenance of policies and procedures over management analysis
Maintain and enhance management analysis system capabilities
Financial Analysis Oversees and directs the timely and accurate analysis of the firm's monthly results, trend analysis and analysis of assorted profitability views. Responsible for developing the management analysis system. Works closely with the IT staff, financial reporting function and outside consultants to identify any problems with the processes, logic or software. Works with IT and outside consultants to ensure maintenance and upgrades performed and tested appropriately.
Policies and Procedures Development of policies and procedures related to management analysis (type and frequency). Participate in manager meetings and other work groups in the development of new policies or modification of existing policies. Responsible for ensuring proposed changes are in compliance with applicable policies Will review research performed by analysts concerning system or reporting issues and treatment. Conduct research on more complex issues for discussion with the CFO.
Deliverable: Works with other functions within finance to ensure to review deliverables for accuracy, completeness, ease of comprehension and consistency Responsible for the training of the project analyst on their system, policies/practices/procedures, and any other training needs (either technical or non-technical). Serve as a key contact for all finance and Administrative Departments (in all offices, foreign or domestic). Will work closely with members of the Finance Department to ensure that all analysis requirements are achieved. Analyzes operational issues impacting functional groups within finance and finance's relationships with other departments and vendors and implements process improvements. Will provide assistance to all clients of the Finance Department. Assist other members of the Management Team in whatever capacity is required to ensure that special projects are completed in a timely and accurate manner as directed. Responsible for directing staff in completing their portion of these projects and reviewing deliverables for accuracy.
Vendor/Agency/Department Liaison: Serve as a liaison between the finance team and outside consultants, key vendors and agencies and other departments
Reports: Will provide various departments with special reports and/or analysis as requested. Periodically evaluates analysis needs and interfaces with other departments, including foreign offices, about analysis needs. Job Requirements
The successful candidate for the finance manager role will have a degree in Accounting/Finance or related major and 7+ years experience in a complex finance role with some years in a supervisory capacity.
Other successful traits will include:
Extensive knowledge of management analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
Moderate knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
Moderate knowledge of internal controls and accounting policies and procedures
Must be able to interpret, research and enforce these policies, controls and principles
Ability to accurately prepare monthly analysis reports
Strong leadership skills
Strong decision making abilities
Ability to motivate and mentor others in the department
Strong analytical skills
