JOB GROUP SUMMARY

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes analysis of integrated healthcare data using descriptive and inferential statistics to create utilization, quality and cost containment summary information to assist in decision support.
Performs research and custom analysis of complex healthcare claims, pharmacy and lab data and provides data summaries and reports.
Performs all aspects of data analyses (i.e., data acquisition, data management, programming and documentation) and identifies data issues and makes recommendations on research design and analysis.
Transforms claims and other data into meaningful measures of quality and performance.
Evaluates, writes and presents reports and makes recommendations based on project findings.
Illustrates complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Creatively translates information using business knowledge.
Interprets, analyzes and presents key findings to key internal and external customers.
May mentor and provide guidance or expertise to team members to develop a talented and energetic team.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Strong SQL and SAS programming skills (e.g., SAS Base, SAS STAT, SAS Macros).
Strong reporting skills using Excel and Word.
Familiarity with complex databases and UNIX or mainframe environments.
Ability to understand, run and execute previously written SAS in documenting the steps in all data processing tasks.
Some experience with SAS/IntrNet, HTML, or Web development a plus.
Turning Data into Information; Leveraging Technology.
Use technology to develop efficient, creative solutions for analysis, problem-solving and customer solutions.
Provide the business with guidance on appropriate selection of metrics to isolate and quantify program performance.
Develop algorithms to extract data from multiple sources and link data from various tables to create data sets for use in specific analyses.
