3-5 years experience is req JOB DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Vice President Quality and Patient Safety (VPQS) of the Caritas Christi Healthcare System and the Chief Medical Officer, and working in partnership with the system hospital Directors of Quality and Patient Safety, will support the data decision support environment of all related programs to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive quality and patient safety program for Caritas Christi Healthcare System.  In collaboration with system and local clinical and administrative leadership, the DCDS, will support analytic, operational, and strategic leadership in helping to position CCHCS as a quality and patient safety leader within the healthcare industy. DCDS will work with the Vice Presidents of Medical Affairs, Directors of Quality and Safety, Infection Control personnel, and other system leaders to identify model programs and approaches to capturing clinical data.  Serves as an informational management expert for all clinical and administrative data to support the quality and safety program.

 The DCDS will support the implementation and monitoring of programs and activities designed to ensure that CCHCS incorporates methods to improve the safe administration of care into all clinical processes, while developing a culture that perceives safety to be of paramount importance.  Support the clinical leadership in each hospital to operationalize a common outcomes measurement and reporting system related to patient safety, and provide leadership in analyzing, prioritizing, implementing, collaborating, and communicating patient safety initiatives across the system.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 �        Support analytic, operational, and strategic leadership in helping to position CCHCS as a quality and patient safety leader within the health care industry.

  

�        Provide over-site in the implementation of improved systems for tracking, evaluating, and communicating patterns in patient safety for the system. 

 

�        Provide support and guidance to the clinical leadership in meeting the goals within the patient safety agenda. Work closely with the system's clinical leadership, to implement alpha/pilot programs designed to eliminate the following:  preventable mortality, adverse drug events, falls, pressure ulcers, surgical complications, nosocomial infections, and JCAHO recommendations.

 

�        Provide support in the implementation of an integrated database designed to promote more timely and accurate information related to patient safety issues and challenges. 

 

�        Supports the collection of quality and safety data for trends to communicate with senior leadership journey to identifying opportunities for improvement

 

�        Serve as an expert resource within CCHCS in identifying and creating a body of knowledge and a data repository related to patient safety.

 

CLINICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS

�        Serve as clinical quality and safety liaison to the Information Systems Division to assist with the design and implementation of technical solutions which support the system wide clinical needs including the quality and patient safety agenda.

�        Provide leadership in identifying the clinical data requirements of the Directors, Departments, Committees, and clinicians across the system.  Assist in coordination of the advancement of clinical information systems to satisfy these data requirements. 

�        Harvest the system wide best practices which exploit Meditech and other computer applications in the support of the quality and patient safety initiatives, and identify a work plan to spread those processes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

�        BS or MS in health care field.  5-10 years experience in a senior clinical leader position with a strong foundation in quality and patient safety.

�        Highly motivational communication skills accompanied by the ability to analyze and present data to influence behavior, stimulate innovation, promote best practices, and drive organizational change.

�        Database management skills high level with Meditech integration inclusive of report writing, data mining, export files, etc

�        Knowledge of CMS core measure data management, Masshealth data management, rL Solutions, University Healthsystem Consortium and other quality and safety administrative data files.

�        Strong expertise in SAS, Access, Excel, etc

�        Excellent presentation style, including the ability to present data to clinicians and staff at all levels of the organization.
