Design Engineer Job

Great company with growth potential for the right individual. Immediate need for a Hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer or Senior Mechanical Designer of Custom designed ultrasonic transducers. Great Midwestern city offers many things to attract family or single lifestyle living.

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive engineering planning, design, and manufacturing studies of specified project development for custom transducers and systems
  • Developing engineering concepts, designs, specifications, cost estimates; prepares written reports, technical and material specifications for manufacturing operations associated with various projects and production support
  • Preparation of project documents and related justification, budget analyses, calculations, plan, specifications, cost estimates and schedules
  • Determining scope of work, preparing requests for proposals, bid reviews, etc
  • Will assist in updating manufacturing standards in accordance with ISO 9001 and company policies
  • Customer interaction to develop transducer requirements
  • Developing the utilization of computer programs for the analysis and solution of engineering problems, etc

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering OR other approved engineering curriculum or equivalent experience in related field of design
  • Minimum of 10 years increasingly responsible engineering experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical and / or other engineering principles and techniques in ultrasonic transducer design
  • Experience with ultrasonic transducer design in any of the following industries: oil/gas (downhole), medical (imaging, sensing, low intensity therapy), HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound - medical / industrial) high - power, industrial sensing - NDT, etc
  • Ability to write specification and create accurate and timely project drawings
  • Computer skills, 3-D CAD experience, finite element analysis, computerized modeling
  • Be able to prepare schedules, cost estimates, interpret engineering design drawings, standards, etc
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with ultrasonic and FE modeling using COMSOL and experience with SolidWorks (Preferred)
  • Desired basic electrical knowledge and electrical testing experience along with machine shop experience (Preferred)
