POSITION SUMMARY:

 

As the Director of Finance for Sacred Heart and Saint Mary's Hospitals, you will contribute to the overall financial viability of multiple facilities within our Northern Region.  You will provide on-site leadership for financial planning functions supporting hospital operations and develop financial plans that support strategic initiatives and organizational growth and development.  You will serve as a key finance advisor to the hospital president, operations management team, and Finance Shared Services Organization.  Within our fluid environment, the you must be comfortable with ambiguity and embrace organizational change.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Coordinates the annual budget development process and long-range financial planning process with local hospital leadership in compliance with MHC planning process. 
  • Serves as key advisor to the hospital president and management team and provides site support.
  • Provides accounting and analytical support to hospital operation by working as a financial partner in analyzing ways to manage costs and improve profitability.
  • Prepares in-depth financial and operational analysis of the monthly financial results.  
  •  Participates in review of existing financial processes, promoting process improvement and standardization.
  • Maintains financial systems supporting LTO #3, Hospital performance indicators.
  • Provides support and perform financial evaluations of new products/services, joint ventures, and acquisitions including the development of volume forecasts and the production of proforma financial statements.
  • Participates in the CFO Network as the site subject matter expert over budgeting and financial planning matters.
  • Serves on the Kaufman Hall "Core Team" and bring forward suggestions for process improvement and standardization. 
  • Serve as subject matter expert and on-site "go-to" person for local directors regarding Kaufman Hall feature/functionality.
  • Participates in the implementation plan for a system-wide standard flexible reporting/budgeting process and implement including identifying best data drivers to ensure meaningful flexed reporting.
  • Coordinates the capital expenditure request process.  Assists in the development of business cases for requested capital purchases.
  • Assists with analysis and communications regarding resource management activities.
  • Participate, as needed, in initiatives and the evaluation of projects to improve the profitability of entities and the system.  This includes items such as evaluation of new information systems, labor productivity tools and approaches.
  • Maintains financial internal controls to manage costs and safeguard assets at the local level.
  • Responds to Ad Hoc requests for financial analysis.
  • Manages other departments within the local sites as appropriate and agreed upon with the VP of Finance - SSO.

job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, Majoring in Accounting or Business required
  • Experience: Minimum of five years experience in a progressive health care finance environment, or healthcare consulting/public accounting firm
  • Experience: Experience with Medicare/Medicade Reimbursement required
  • Experience: Experience of managed care contracting and related financial implications
  • Certification: CPA Certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of and experience with PC-Based spreadsheet and word processing programs
  • Skills: Supervisory skills, including ability to direct a team and be an effective team member
  • Skills: Strong aptitude working with complex Financial IT systems
  • Abilities: Ability to communicate and interact effectively across the system
  • Abilities: Ability to establish professional, technical and personal credibility
  • Abilities: Ability to find creative and effective ways to extract data from source IT systems
  • Abilities: Ability to handle light to moderate travel schedule, via auto or small plane. Some overnight travel may be required
