Position Summary:


This person is responsible for the complete vendor platform as the technical SME and lead on any software upgrades on (patch) or (point) release upgrades, technical SME and lead on hardware upgrades on existing platform elements and hardware installs, vendor management, ensure network elements are monitored for performance, capacity and fault management of network elements and provide critiques on outages for root cause.


Principal Accountabilities:


  • Monitor LTE EPC & OSS Network for functioning levels including monitoring performance statistics. Work with various vendors to develop tools to monitor LTE network for current performance levels and for future capacity planning

  • SME technical support, interface with vendor on trouble resolutions. SME on product in trouble resolution as tier 1 support and primary interface to vendor to ensure troubles are corrected in timely manor. Vendor Management, ensure vendor is providing quality service, repairs that work in timely manor. Drive vendor to resolution on metroPCS issues

  • Interface with engineering and vendors in order to understand implementation options for existing and future LTE EPC & OSS network elements hardware

  • Interface with engineeirng and vendors in order to understand implementation options for changes to ECP & OSS for Software Upgrades (patch). Define patches that fix metroPCS issue. Ensure fix what was intended and does not break anything. Drive vendor to provide fixes to equipment, both software applications and hardware in timely manor

  • Interface with NOC to manage NMS alerts assist NOC personal with training on LTE EPC and OSS network elements Ensure network elements are monitored by NOC. Understanding of system trouble logs, debug logs, message output operations and understanding of vendor documentation

  • Maintain databases and records of equipment and assignments. Provide critiques on outages for root cause to drive vendor for better resolution

  • Miscellaneous work activities that may be assigned from time to time


  • Additional Duties That May Be Performed:


    • On Call Support for EPC and OSS network elements

    • All other related duties as assigned


Job Requirements

Minimum Education/Certifications/Knowledge Requirements:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 10 years of experience with Wireless Telecommunications

  • 6 years of experience with Wireless Data

  • 4 years of experience with IP Networks (layer 3 protocols and layer 2 connectivity supporting both LAN and WAN systems)

  • 4 years of experience with UNIX O/S (supporting file structures, CLI, shell scripting)


  • Minimum Experience/Skill Requirements:


    • Must have a background in capacity and traffic management

    • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Must be computer literate on Windows applications


    • Other Knowledge and Skills Desired:


      • Programming languages
