Consumer Lending Manager

Department Description: Leads, plans, directs, organizes and controls the activities and staff in lending services to deliver outstanding service. Accountable for the development, implementation, ongoing review and continuous improvement of the credit union’s consumer loan underwriting criteria and lending programs.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Essential or Fundamental Job Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Maximize member service and satisfaction by building an inclusive team culture where there are clear goals, inclusion in decision making, constant communication and coaching, feedback and recognition.
2. Proactively identify, develop, recommend and implement product, underwriting, and delivery channels related to consumer lending programs.
3. Monitor and recommend pricing for all consumer lending products.
4. Manage the credit union’s Visa portfolio and lead the inter-departmental team with a focus on growth, retention and quality.
5. Develop short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the department.
6. Team with the real estate lending manager for inner-department cross-training, work coverage and underwriting consistency.
7. Have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of loan policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance, ensuring that all requirements are kept current and risks are effectively managed. Recommend and implement modifications on an ongoing basis.
8. Establish budget for consumer lending department, monitor progress and make improvement recommendations with emphasis on expense control/reduction.
9. Develop key metrics related to departmental efficiency and effectiveness, and establish performance standards and goals. Monitor and communicate metrics, modifying standards and goals as necessary.
10. Develop, complete, analyze and disseminate monthly reports for the purpose of tracking expectations and making improvements.
11. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general economic conditions that may impact lending opportunities and delinquency and charge-off ratios.
12. Responsible for the credit quality of $135,000,000+ loan portfolio.
13. Provide guidance and support to members, lending services employees and credit union employees with a focus on same-call/same-day resolution.
14. Lead teams or participate on teams for the implementation of credit union or department-specific strategic initiatives.
15. Miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned by VP of Operations.

Knowledge Skills: Bachelors Degree (in business administration or finance preferred)
Thorough knowledge of lending and the applicable policies and federal regulations is required.

10. Familiarity with loan processing and origination software as well as ability to use word processing, report generating and spreadsheet applications.

Basic Qualifications: Bachelors Degree
2+ years of underwriting experience, including consumer lending experience.
