Job Description

Kelly Engineering Resources is looking for a Maintenance Tech (1st shift 8a to 4p) to work a contract position in Greenwood, SC. This will be a 90 day project assignment, filling in for a full-time employee who is on medical leave. However, there is an outside chance that this position may go permanent/full-time in the future.
This position is strictly mechanical in nature, and very limited in electrical. So, qualified candidates please have a strong mechanical background. You will be repairing all parts found on Materials Handling Equipment (bearing, pins, belts, etc.)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. - Responsible for correcting and/or reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions. - Must understand and comply with all current plant policies and procedures. - Must attend at least three (3) monthly Plant Safety Meetings per year. - Must be able to read, understand, and fabricate from mechanical detail, assembly, and layout drawings. - Documentation of engineered drawings to 'as built' conditions to project engineering and/or engineering drafter. - Demonstrated skills using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices in the production of mechanical parts from existing components. - Demonstrated skills of milling, turning, welding, and other machining and fabrication methods. - Demonstrated skills of disassembly and assembly of complex mechanical systems including fabricated parts, precision components (bearings, cylinders, power transmission components, etc), and fasteners. Support production for an extended period of time after the startup of a new component or production line. - Communication with production personnel in a training role regarding the operation or maintenance of new equipment. - Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical components or systems on complex production equipment and in performing the necessary tests to insure proper operation. - Demonstrated skills of inspection, documenting, and reporting machine conditions on regular intervals. - Demonstrated writing skills in the communication of equipment condition, changes, and reports. - Communicate potential project ideas to engineering department personnel in the areas of safety, equipment improvements, and process improvements.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or GED, Associate Degree preferred. Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent thereof in education and experience. (6 plus years.
Experience: Three years of industrial experience as a maintenance mechanic or machinist. Experience in engineering terms and technical language
