Software Engineer Level I-III

Hours: Full Time Exempt
Pay: 40-60k
Job Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision
Assignment Type: Direct Hire
Location: Southern Oregon, OR

POSITION PURPOSE

This position is responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of the PCM product to maintain and improve on existing functionality, and incorporates new processes into the code base. This includes handling a wide variety of situations and conflicts involving the functional and implementation specs as well as coding the functionality outlined in the functional specifications. Takes direction from lead Software Engineers; as well as contributing to the team in a constructive manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Ability to read and debug Visual Basic or C# code written by others.
  • Write efficient and effective code in accordance with software functional specifications (provided).
  • Work with staff programmers regarding the tools we use, our current code base, database design and general programming design issues.
  • Update and augment Implementation Specifications from Functional Specifications.
  • Implement new features in core product, related tools, and internal tools.
  • Maintenance of our core product, related tools, and internal tools.
  • Assist with peer code reviews.
  • Provide first tier response to technical questions on products for internal staff.

    • Software Engineer I:
      • Performs simple and moderately complex tasks independently; consistently delivers quality work, on-time; proven ability to take on additional responsibilities; demonstrates appropriate knowledge and proficiency; excellent core value performance
    • Software Engineer II:
      • Performs complex tasks independently; consistently delivers quality work, on-time; exhibits strong communication and documentation skills; demonstrates appropriate knowledge and proficiency; sustained excellent core value performance
    • Software Engineer III:
      • Performs a variety of complex project tasks independently; delivers exceptional quality work, on-time; effectively manages portions of projects; contributes to proposal efforts; demonstrates outstanding interpersonal, communication, organizational and documentation skills
    QUALIFICATIONS
    • College degree in computer sciences or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
    • Software coding in efficient, effective, manner and conducted in accordance with department policies and procedures, standards and with applicable laws.
    • Software is coded to accurately reflect the purpose of the functional specification with a minimum of software bugs.
    • Maintain good communication and effective working relations with related departments.
    • The companys professional reputation is projected in all business development contacts.
    • Develop thorough company products knowledge
    • Successfully prioritizing tasks and meeting project deadlines

    • Escalation of technical support to next level or senior staff when appropriate
    • Functional knowledge of or experience with Rules Engines; Object Oriented Programming; Test Driven Development.
    PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION
    • Ability to access input and retrieve information from a computer to produce typed copy.
    • Capacity to communicate adequately, in person or via telephone, in a professional business manner, which can be understood.
    • Capability of dialing or otherwise using a telephone to place and receive telephone calls.
    • Willingness and capability to come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day as is necessary.
    • Willingness and capacity to sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time.
    • Capacity to pick up, leaf through and read books and files and other materials.
    • Willingness and ability to maintain regular attendance for normally scheduled hours, to work overtime and to be flexible to work other shifts as necessary (i.e., potential weekend schedule).
