Serves as engineering expert in a given discipline and resource across the organization. Develops and modifies process formulations, methods and controls to met quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements, modifications or additions which will document work; tests and solves problems. Reviews product requirements with product development compatibility of processing methods to determine costs and schedules. Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. 10 years related experience.
Position Responsibilities
Collaborates with all Platform engineering groups to develop annual and 3-year capital plans by recommending automation, controls, and power distribution improvements and solutions that are commercially proven in both concept and performance.
Develops enterprise wide standards, guidelines, and templates for automation, control hardware, software, and programming, and electrical distribution power for application within the enterprise-wide method of Front Ending Loading Packages (FEL�s).
Works with other engineering disciplines to design and specify complete and effective control and power solutions by preparing clear, concise and thorough FEL packages that reflect prudent due diligence and conform to Enterprise-wide FEL formats. Works to allow synchronization, clear responsibility boundaries, and flawless transcription among the various engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
Performs reviews (own work and peer reviews) of FEL packages for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness including but not limited to:
1. Technology assessment and recommendation evaluation that reflect plant, ConAgra, and industry best-in-class practices.
2. Proposed arrangements and placements (drawing level)
3. Infrastructure requirements, needs, and impacts on current operations.
4. Equipment and system performance criteria
5. Operational staff needs assessment to ensure technology is appropriate and sustainable for the proposed plant.
6. Identification of alternatives, risks, prerequisites, and opportunities
Provide on-site support to project teams during design reviews, initial start-up activities, periods of focused improvement implementation, and when technical trouble-shooting exceeds the plant�s capabilities.
Identifies and supports intra-platform and cross-enterprise programs and solutions focused on improving manufacturing capacity, capability, and sustainability, or reducing end-product variation all with the bias toward generally reducing total delivered cost and supporting growth.
Keeps current with the latest automation, control, and power distribution technology and commercial application of the same.
Keeps current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to automation, controls, and electrical power system design and operation
Provides technical and economic feasibility support to other groups within the company as part of both continuous improvement activities and marketplace competitive advantage development.
Supports development of electrical and control engineering talent within ConAgra through effective use of internal resource development tools and external training and recruitment.
Position Qualifications
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science with extensive experience in process control and automation with the food or consumer products manufacturing industry.
Principal Engineer - Minimum 15 years related experience
Experience with Advanced Process Control, Packaging Control and Computer Integration preferred.
Must have network integration capabilities, PLC's, batch focus, and CIP.
Must have the ability to work with integration and ERP systems.
Experience with batch processing is a plus.
Excellent technical knowledge, technical analysis, problem solving skills and project organizational skills are required. Proven ability to work within a multi-plant and cross-functional matrix organization. ConAgra will not accept any third party recruitment agency or search firm resumes for this position.
