Job Description

Ecolab Food Safety Specialties is the world’s leading distributor of food safety solutions.  Food Safety Specialties offers a wide array of food safety products and services including its original day-of-the week food safety labels, specialized training courses and numerous tools and systems.



The Product Category Manager assists with the development and overall management of all product categories including marketing materials, product marketing programs, analyzing marketing and sales results against expectations, and making recommendations for future improvements.



Primary Responsibilities:


  • Works with Senior Product Category Manager to identify, analyze and interpret market conditions in existing and potential markets for the assigned product categories, making recommendations as appropriate.


  • Makes recommendations for changes and improvements for future products, to expand sales and profitability.


  • Assist the Senior Product Category Manager in all assigned product categories and marketing programs, to support overall corporate goals. Marketing programs include (but not limited to) the following; Conventions, systems, promotions, marketing plans, etc.


  • Provides assistance with market research, input of sales support and presentation materials, attending trade shows/conferences, and maintaining data on appropriate market conditions, including direct competitors as it relates to products.


  • Utilize market information and perform necessary analysis to review the current marketing programs and recommend changes or improvements where necessary. Explore new ways to promote existing products and provide input on existing product modifications.


  • Works with the Senior Product Category Manager on product development feasibility projects; assessing feasibility of new products, researching correct market and competitor information, planning effective introduction to market.


  • Assists the Senior Product Category Manager with other marketing projects and assignments as needed.


Basic Qualifications:


  • BBA in Marketing.


Preferred Qualifications:




  • 2 years applicable experience or MBA.


  • 1-2 years experience in product management.


  • Excellent business acumen - understands business implications of decisions and displays orientation toward maximizing profitability.

  • Innovative - displays original thinking and creativity.  Develops unique approaches and presents compelling ideas and plans.

  • Strong analytical skills - gathers and analyzes information skillfully.  Ability to effectively synthesize complex or diverse information.

  • Strong project management skills - ability to lead cross-functional teams and meet project deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as other pertinent software and a strong aptitude for learning.

  • Strong in proofreading, visual/spatial skills, and experience working in graphics layout and graphics layout applications.
