Job Summary: To provide direct leadership to the STARS responsible for providing flawless, world-class service to guests visiting M&E attractions through gift shop sales and service utilizing the procedures and processes outlined in the location SSTs, based on the Gaylord Service Basics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide immediate supervision of the operation including opening and closing the area, distributing cash tills, performing returns/exchanges as needed, directing the work to be done, ensuring STARS have adequate change and handling cash-out/close-out processes at the end of the shift, and filling a front-line position as needed during the shift. In conjunction with retail team, ensure that sales and profit goals are met through appropriate planning and organization of staff, inventory and expenses.
  • Maintain a well-stocked, well-merchandised store and stockrooms throughout shift; ensuring that apparel remains folded and sized appropriately, that all merchandise is well stocked, the sales floor remains full and visually pleasing to our guests. Relay inventory concerns and product suggestions to retail team. Assist with preparations for physical inventory and conduct periodic cycle counts in conjunction with retail team.
  • Accountable for daily cash register sales and proper check in/check out procedures for self and other cash-handling employees.
  • Responsible for scheduling STARS based on business needs and events. Responsible for assisting with the training of new STARS. Assists in maintaining and promoting the retail sales incentive program (NOTEably Flawless).
  • Determine and communicate specific STAR job assignments and break schedules during the shift.
  • Provide polite and courteous service to all guests, serving as the first point of escalation to address any guest concerns. Responsible for knowing and communicating information about current and upcoming events. Responsible for providing management with feedback regarding customer comments and experiences. Ensure the proper preparation of food as well as storage of products after use as required by local and federal health regulations; ensure required sanitation procedures as required by local and federal health regulations are followed, including the rotation and date labeling of new and existing food orders in storage.
  • Maintain general order and cleanliness of store, office, stockrooms, and restrooms including cleaning windows, spot sweeping floors, dusting displays emptying trashcans as needed, cleaning of possible food spills and picking up trash/debris as needed.
  • Ensure that all equipment and necessary supplies are in working order and stocked for the upcoming shift, notifying maintenance or other proper source (IT, etc) immediately when equipment failure occurs.
  • Take leadership role in emergency situations; including emergency evacuation, ensuring that both guests and STARS in specific area of responsibility have left the building to a location at least 300 feet from the building.
  • Coordinate outside vendors during special events in order to settle merchandise sales and commissions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications:

  • Education: HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of retail experience, supervisory role preferred.
