HEALTHSOUTH Rehabilitation Hospital of Toms River is located at the beautiful Jersey Shore. For the past 40 years we have served the New Jersey community offering several dynamic post acute levels of care. Our diversified services include: 92 licensed inpatient rehabilitation beds, 24 licensed special care nursing facility (SCNF) beds, 13 skilled nursing facility (SNF) beds and one outpatient satellite located in Toms River, New Jersey. The 92 licensed inpatient rehabilitation and one outpatient satellite are accredited by The Joint Commission.

Job Description
The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the following functions:
Development of patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how patients* needs for nursing care, treatment, and services are assessed, evaluated, and met
Development and implementation of the plans for providing nursing care, treatment, and services including determination of the types and numbers of nursing personnel necessary to provide nursing care
Development of a patient focused, team oriented culture, working in conjunction with all other medical, clinical and therapeutic disciplines to ensure optimal service and superior outcomes
Development and implementation of programs enhancing a culture of safety and accountability related to all aspects of patient care
Supervision and coordination of nursing personnel and the delivery of nursing care on a 24-hour basis
Active participation as a member of the hospital*s Governing Body, Quality Council, Med Exec, Infection Control, Education, Ethics Committees
Implementation of effective, ongoing programs to measure, assess, and improve nursing care, treatment, and services delivered to patients
Integration of complex data to formulate decisions, develop programs and plans that optimize health, promote wellness, manage illness, and prevent complications or secondary disabilities
Implementation of Joint Commission, CMS, and State hospital standards and, in particular, the integration of rehabilitation nursing into these standards
Collaboration with nursing peers, the interdisciplinary team and others who influence healthcare
Creation of an environment and culture that enables the hospital to fulfill its mission by meeting or exceeding its goals, conveying the hospital mission to all staff, holding staff accountable for performance, motivating staff to improve performance and being responsible for the measurement, assessment and continuous improvement of the department*s
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
License or Certification:
Current RN licensure appropriate to state regulations
CPR certification
CRRN certification preferred
Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience:
Bachelor*s Degree in Nursing or related field required, or another appropriate degree, or a written plan to obtain these qualification approved by the National CNO and hospital CEO, unless higher degree required by state. (NJ requires masters prepared)
Five years experience in inpatient hospital setting.
Two years Nursing Management experience with responsibilities including such as 24 hour accountability, FTE management, policy, procedure, and budgetary oversight, and conducting disciplinary action.
Equivalent professional experience commensurate with a Master*s degree.
Machines, Equipment Used:
General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer.
Physical Requirements:
Good visual acuity and ability to communicate
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.
Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbal arenas as well as via email.
Ability to work independently without supervision.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. Occasional outdoor exposure
Exposure or potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
Handicapped accessibility.
May work under stressful circumstances at times.
Proficiency or Productivity Standards:
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
Will be required to work as necessary during disaster situations, i.e. before, during or after a disaster.
May be required to stay after workday to assist after a disaster situation until relief arrives.
Regular attendance and reporting on time to work is a requirement of position.
