Great opportunity for a part time professional to join a small but mighty team on a university campus!

 

The self-motivated, conscientious, detail-oriented person who is seeking a stable part-time work experience will find a wonderful opportunity at DeVry University.  This position is located in our Crystal City (Arlington), VA campus, in the Human Resources department.  The department supports the recruitment, training, benefits, compensation, and employee relations needs of employees in the Mid-Atlantic region, spanning 3 states and 6 locations.

 

Position Summary

An excellent opportunity for a person wishing to work 15-20 hours per week (five 4-hour days, three 6-hour days, or another arrangement to be agreed upon), learn about or further their knowledge of HR, and be a team member of a very active office.  The Human Resources Assistant is designated as a temporary/part time position.  The incumbent performs a wide range of general support functions in the Human Resources office to assist the HR Manager and HR Generalist and the people we serve. 

  • Greets, directs, and assists visitors and employees to the Human Resources department; provides information and answers and adheres to any requests.
  • Maintains all personnel files including creating employee and benefit files and filing paperwork.
  • Provides support to the Human Resources Manager and other staff in the operation of the department from office procedures to ordering supplies.
  • Assists the HR Generalist and/or Human Resources Manager in the recruiting process as assigned. Assists the HR Manager with planning and implementing campus employee events.
  • Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

High School Diploma required; Human Resources experience preferred.

 

  • History of being a dependable self-starter with excellent follow-through, superior attention to detail, and no attendance concerns.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at the highest level.

  • Strong PC/computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to set priorities and deadlines and ensure projects are completed with limited supervision.

  • Self-motivated and willing to take ownership of, and quickly resolve, complex issues as well as the daily continuing needs of the office.

     

    This position is designated temporary/part-time, and is expected to pay up to $9.25/hour.
