Lead Data Warehouse Architect
Job Description
The Lead Data Architect works with business groups to gather Business Intelligence requirements and leads the effort in translating them into an effective Data Warehouse design using Dimensional Modeling techniques to maintain data flow for mission critical financial and business applications. Applies Dimensional Modeling techniques and design skills to integrate new data into the existing Warehouse as well as continuously re-evaluating existing Data Warehouse and Data Marts to ensure optimal performance. Fully documents proposed solutions including data dictionary and related metadata elements. Assists in the design of an efficient, reliable ETL mechanism for updating the Data Warehouse, Data Marts and related objects. Assists the OLAP development team in gathering business requirements and defining supporting Multi-dimensional components of the Data Warehouse. Works closely with the user community, technical staff and team members to develop reporting and analysis specifications and design supporting Data Marts/Dimensional Models and to troubleshoot reported problems with Reporting, Dashboards, and other dependent systems. Works directly with Business and IS&T resources to develop strategies for implementing Data Warehouses. Assists the Systems Architecture and DBA teams in developing approaches to maintaining optimized Data Warehouse solutions, including strategies for aggregation and other derived structures. Works closely with Reporting/Analysis teams to educate end-users on the proper usage of Data Marts. Provides consultation on Data Warehousing design principles to teams developing OLTP applications. Provide input and recommendations on design/technical issues to project manager/senior managers.Minimum Education/Experience Required:Requires a BS in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related course of study and at least 6 years of progressively responsible experience or an M.S. and at least one year of experience in the above job duties. Proven Data Warehouse design / deployment experience using Star Schemas, reporting and analytics for enterprise data warehouse implementations, and the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple assignments is required. Must be a skilled in communicating with Business users and skilled in listening and translating their requirements into an effective design specification. Demonstrated expertise in concepts underlying varied design techniques and the trade-offs required between the approaches. Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tool experience required. Experience with Data Modeling tools, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Microsoft Project required. Experience with Large Financial Data Warehouses and/or previous experience with financial reporting and data analysis in a high volume environment a plus. Seeking experience with OLTP and Multi-Dimensional Databases in an AIX Informatica environment.
Position Summary:
Technical expert leads the application architecture and development efforts for enterprise level applications. Develops technical strategy for a particular application or suite of applications. Ensures system integrity and a stable system with proper controls and systems including up to date document applications architecture and development expert. Leads the team from a technical perspective in the areas of application architecture, systems analysis and design, and software programming. Creates technical specifications and high level system architecture diagrams. Works with business analysts to refine business requirements based on technical feasibility. Develops prototypes. Ensures that technical specifications are kept current during the development process. Ensures that the estimates in the technical specification are accurate. Defines the high level software development practices and policies.
Basic Education Requirement:
